Beauty, affinity and identity. These are the words chosen to represent the art collection of the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation. Bellezza. Appartenenza. Identità. ‘Gemme’ dalla collezione d’arte della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca. Beauty. Affinity. Identity. The best of the art collection by the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation is the full title of the exhibition, which from 3 October to 1 November will be open on the mezzanine of the Ragghianti Foundation, in the San Micheletto Complex.
An initiative created as part of the 2020 edition of Invito a Palazzo, the annual event promoted by Abi and Acri, which organises, every first Saturday in October, the opening of the historic head offices of banks and their foundations in Italian cities.

The exhibition allows you to appreciate some important pieces of Lucca's painting school between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Paintings accompanied by a pleasant out of program, represented by the Madonna del Latte effigy by Matteo Civitali, an exception in this exhibition for its technique and also for the historical period to which it belongs to, as a remarkable example of the local echo to the Florentine humanistic and Renaissance epic influence.

The eight canvases present are dated between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries: an almost unpublished Pietro Ricchi, a 'Hamletic' Sant'Agostino by Pietro Paolini, Antonio Franchi and Girolamo Scaglia, in an interesting comparison between their allegories of music, and the intriguing Indovina by Giovan Domenico Lombardi.
And last but not least Pompeo Batoni's Portrait of Sir Charles Watson and Angelika Kauffmann's Portrait of Teresa Bandettini.
