#PucciniDay - Happy birthday Maestro!

To celebrate the 160th anniversary of the birth of Giacomo Puccini City of Lucca, Lucca Summer Festival and Teatro del Giglio join forces in the name of music for a special event on the evening of 27 July next in Piazza Napoleone.
A party to which everyone is invited.

 

To celebrate the Maestro, the young Maestro Beatrice Venezi, Lucchese as Puccini, as Puccini known in the world for his professional qualities.

The #PucciniDay concert offers the public an intense excursus for soloists and orchestra through the works of Giacomo Puccini, from Le Villi to Turandot, for an evening in music that will not fail to excite those who love the Maestro's music and its wonderful melodies. On the stage of the Lucca Summer Festival (in piazza Napoleone), the soprano Donata D'Annunzio Lombardi, the tenor Lorenzo Decaro and the baritone Giuseppe Altomare, to give voice to the splendid arias and the most poignant duets composed by Giacomo Puccini.

 

The musical direction of the evening is entrusted to Beatrice Venezi,

a young and talented musician - as well as director of the orchestra is also a pianist and composer - born in Lucca in 1990; great fan of music at 360 °, from classical to electronics, fights for the dissemination of the work in an accessible and captivating way. Venezi, who today leads the New Scarlatti Orchestra of Naples, is assistant conductor of the National Armenian Orchestra and principal guest conductor of the Puccini Festival, is the youngest woman conductor in Europe. The Corriere della Sera reported it among the 100 women of the year 2016 and has reconfirmed its thickness by inserting it among the 50 in 2017 that all over the world have distinguished themselves for their professionalism and have been revolutionary, resilient, anti-conformist, pioneer , paladins of femininity, creativity and innovative resources. In 2018 Forbes put her on the list of 100 young leaders of the future.

 

Donata D'Annunzio Lombardi (soprano), today recognized as one of the main Puccini interpreters for her vocal and acting skills, has to her credit a prestigious career on the most important stages both in Italy and abroad. On July 27th Lucca will give voice to the Puccini heroines Manon Lescaut (Sola ... perduta ... abbandonata), Floria Tosca (Vissi d'arte)) and Cio-Cio-San (A beautiful day we'll see). At his side the tenor Lorenzo Decaro, considered one of the most interesting tenors of his generation: guest of important Italian and European theaters, will perform arias and duets by Mario Cavaradossi (E lucevan le stelle, duetto I act with Floria Tosca), Calaf ( cry Liù, Nessun dorma) and Rodolfo (duet with Marcello). The vocal cast completes the Lucchese baritone by adoption. Giuseppe Altomare: elegant and refined interpreter, he trained at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and since then has an important national and international career. He is entrusted with the roles of Scarpia (Te Deum and duet II act with Floria Tosca), Marcello (duet with Rodolfo) and Gianni Schicchi (Si runs from the notary).

 

In the concert program there will be splendid orchestral pages entrusted to the baton of Beatrice Venezi and the Orchestra del Teatro del Giglio:

the Symphonic Prelude, the Intermezzi by Suor Angelica and Manon Lescaut, the Abandonment and the Tregenda by Le Villi. The choristers of the Lucchese Polyphony will perform the poignant Chorus with Madame Butterfly and the Te Deum da Tosca.

Admission is free, but it is necessary to buy tickets that will be distributed on Thursday 26th July (10:30 am / 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm / 6:00 pm) and Friday 27 July (10:30 am to 1:00 pm) ) at the Ticket Office of the Teatro del Giglio.
