Before moving on, however, a brief stop in Lucca is mandatory if we want to discover the city of Puccini and pay homage to the Maestro by visiting the places where he lived. First and foremost the Puccini Museum, set up in the house where he was born. A selfie in Piazza Cittadella with the Maestro is a must.
From here, a short distance away we reach the church of San Paolino, where the young Puccini made his debut while still a student and the cathedral of San Martino, where the Puccini family served as organists for a long time.
A hop to Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, which has no close ties to our composer other than being one of the best-known squares in his hometown and, since we are on the saddle, a final stop for a ride on the Renaissance walls to enjoy the panoramic view of the city's monuments, the splendid trees that line the avenues, the reliefs of Monte Pisano and the Apuan Alps, before setting off again.
