Supermoon in August, but the spectacle everyone is waiting for is on the night of St. Lawrence when the Perseids perform the well-known astronomical event of “shooting stars,” but they will not be the only ones.
Weather forecasts are hopeful this year with a small crescent moon and many swarms brightening the summer sky. The peak will be Aug. 12 with the Tears of St. Lawrence, which astronomers predict will be a must-see show of the beloved Perseids. We await them with lots of music.
On the Walls of Lucca, music accompanies the most romantic event of the summer.
“e lucevan le stelle... starts at 9:30 pm and then all night long until past midnight. A path of music more than 4 km long, the entire perimeter of the Walls. In fact, the Walls of Lucca will be the exceptional stage for opera concerts on the ramparts, as well as choral music and tango to listen to and dance to.
The barracks and castles of the gates will host exhibitions, re-enactments with costumed figures, and even the two civic towers will be open to admire the starry sky and the lights of the city from above.

8 bastions, 6 barracks, 2 castles of the Walls and the city's Civic Towers, with many cultural and historical reenactment associations involved.
These are the numbers of “E lucevan le stelle” the St. Lawrence night event.
The absolute protagonist, starting with the title that evokes the famous aria from Giacomo Puccini's opera “Tosca,” is also for this edition music, to which will be added additional performances, both of choirs and tango dancers, to emphasize the many cultural interconnections that pertain to the musical universe.
On the Urban Walls there will be stations, where small concerts will alternate, mainly of classical music, but also dance and choral performances.
And among these small musical stars, there will also be room for shooting star observation from the ramparts.
Starting at 7:30 p.m., for logistical and safety reasons, the use of rickshaws on the Walls will be prohibited.
