Lucca-Trek - On the ridge between history and breathtaking landscapes

Discovering the territories of Cerasomma, Meati and Montuolo

From the village of Meati, the trails climb to Monte Orma and Monte Romagna, and continue through the beautiful landscape of the Pisan hills, reaching the ridge, albeit at a modest altitude, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

Descending, you can close the loop at the remarkable ruins of Castelpasserino, an ancient fortress built in the 13th century on the hill opposite Montuolo, a hamlet that still retains its ancient origins.

Continue to the mediaeval village of Cerasomma, then return to Meati along a pleasant tarmac road that runs alongside the church of San Michele Arcangelo, a magnificent religious building with a Romanesque façade, documented before the year one thousand and of Longobard origin, like Meati.
