LUCCHESE120 | ONE AND ONLY LOVE

The “RossoNeri” fans have experienced and are continuing to experience moments of ups and above all downs. For too many years Lucca has been searching for a corporate stability that would allow, like it has happened in so many other, sometimes even less prestigious, squares, to be able to dream again. The echo of the long stay in Serie B in the 1990s has now died down. Since then, many failures, many sporting disappointments seasoned only by some sudden light in the dark. In spite of everything, the fans have never lacked their support and on the occasion of the most important matches they have guaranteed not only good attendance at the Porta Elisa and in the away matches often with thousands of supporters following the Pantera, but also some breathtaking choreographies that have remained in the history of the club.

The beating heart of the support, of course, is the Curva Ovest, capable of dragging the rest of the stadium along. The fan of the Lucchese is a different fan, referring to the surrounding realities, probably less rowdy, less flashy, at times colder, but nevertheless deep, capable of attaching itself in a visceral way to those who show love for the “RossoNeri” colours.

Even in football Lucca is different, very different, from its neighbours, as former “RossoNeri” coach Corrado Orrico recalled a few years ago: "Lucca as it is, the Lucchesi as they are, have nothing to do with Tuscany. I have always considered Lucca and the people of Lucca as a British island. This so diplomatic manner that the people of Lucca have that sometimes verges on hypocrisy; diplomatic, softly polite, the people of Prato are not the people of Livorno or Massa. It is a different style of behaviour that has nothing to do with Tuscan. On the other hand, your history is different from Tuscany and then Lucca, a city that is a meteorite that came down from another galaxy and brought to Tuscany: there is no equal'.
