TREKKING URBANO 2023
It takes place at night but it is a trek in colour!
This is Urban Trekking 2023, the national event of which Lucca is one of the first supporters, which has always offered special occasions, scheduled for 31 October in the historic centre of Lucca.
Practices of sustainability through the centuries is the theme of this year's event, which will take participants to get to know Lucca's best-loved historical monument.
4,200 metres long by 12 metres high and a long history that starts in the 2nd century B.C. with the founding of the city and arrives up to the present day.
From an imposing military defence building to a park suspended over the city, a symbol of peace and friendly welcome.
The Walls of Lucca are a unique promenade, to be taken on foot or by bicycle, for moments of relaxation or outdoor sports, but also a botanical trail among elms, plane trees, liriodendrons, the tulip tree and many other species that enthusiasts love to admire in every season of the year.
From the green of the trees to the blue of the water
because in Lucca one walks among monuments and gushes, among 'ditches' and fountains that sprout here and there in the historic centre and dispense excellent fresh water directly from the springs of Monte Pisano.
Simple fountains with a sober and unadorned design and elegant 'luxury' fountains built to embellish the streets and squares, with statues, masks, basins and decorations in neoclassical style. All the way to the characteristic Via del Fosso, so called because of the canal that runs through it, built in the 14th century to protect the eastern part of the city and which later became essential as a driving force for silk workshops.
