Association Lucca Info & Guide offers a series of guided tours to browse the history of the city of Lucca in the winter months and discover together, residents and guests, inaccessible places and incredible stories. From love to monastic life, from pilgrimage to merchants, to gardens ... sometimes meeting people from the past.

On January 26th the tour is dedicated to coins and merchants in Lucca.

The coins are part of the history of man. In the area of ​​Lucca small coins were found minted by the Etruscans, some coins from the Roman era and from the foundation of the Mint in 650 (which soon became the most important of the Lombard Kingdom) the production of coins was continuous until the second half of the Nineteenth century. And coins have been used, among them, money changers, apothecaries, citizens, bankers and merchants of course.
And the merchants in Lucca were a very powerful corporation that, taking the risks of long journeys and big investments, will make the Republic rich and famous.
The itinerary unfolds in the city center, touching more and less known places where you can find traces of coins and merchants:

The appointment is at the entrance of the Church of San Michele at 15:00 from which begins the walk of about 2 hours in the historic center that ends with a visit to the archaeological excavations of the Domus Romana.

The guided tour will be confirmed with a minimum number of 10 participants

Children up to 14 years (includes entrance to the Domus): 8 euros
Children up to 6 years (includes entrance to the Domus): 2 euros
