WHAT A TREKKING SHOW!
31 October is the National Day of Urban Trekking and, like every year, the appointment dedicated to #locals&tourists returns to (re)discover, at a slow pace, the lesser known corners, the most evocative views, the most illustrious and bizarre characters, the most unusual curiosities of the more than 70 municipalities participating in the initiative. A walk for everyone, along easy city itineraries, with special encounters and pleasant surprises.
What a Trekking Show is the theme of this 19th edition.
With the lights of evening, Lucca goes on stage more beautiful than ever and turns the spotlight on the small great jewels of its historical and artistic heritage.
A walk through the streets and squares of the historic centre, to get to know the places, stories and protagonists that have made the city shine in music, cinema and entertainment.
Alleys and squares, theatres and schools, churches and cloisters, palaces and gardens... music has always resounded here. Classical music, because Lucca is the land of musicians, known and appreciated all over the world, such as Luigi Boccherini and Giacomo Puccini, and pop and rock music, because every summer the city is the exclusive location of the Lucca Summer Festival, with Italian and international stars in concert in the largest square in the historic centre and on the terraces of the Walls.
The 31 October walk is enlivened by a small surprise, all to be enjoyed. A stop in Piazza del Suffragio, in front of the statue of Luigi Boccherini and the Conservatory named after him, surrounded by the musical notes of famous Lucchese musicians and composers of the past, interpreted for the occasion by the Institute's young and talented students.
Lucca is also a protagonist in the cinema
and has welcomed, since the 1950s, great actors and directors of unforgettable films: Il Marchese del Grillo by Mario Monicelli with Alberto Sordi, Ritratto di Signora by Jane Campion with Nicole Kidman, La Provinciale by Mario Soldati with Gina Lollobrigida.
Film sets were set in the city's best-loved places and most picturesque corners: the Renaissance Walls, Palazzo Pfanner and its Baroque garden, the characteristic Via del Fosso, the unmistakable Piazza Anfiteatro.
A city of music and art, handed down through time to us, in a present that shows off all its talent. These days Lucca is different from usual, a parallel universe full of images, colours, sounds and fun. Lucca Comics&Games transforms the city into a unique multimedia stage: comics, games, videogames, cinema, TV, illustration, and the fantastic world of cosplayers that animate the streets, squares and Walls. Impossible not to be captivated!
The guided tour is organised in collaboration with the tour guide associations La Giunchiglia, Lucca Info&Guide and Turislucca.
