Fantastic beasts and where to find them in Lucca

"Whales, pistrics, dolphins, killer whales and other monsters of the ocean and our sea, whichever (monster) you have oh Nile, whichever the wonderful Ganges counts, this only beast gives testimony to you. The opening of the mouth and the rib show the vastness of the remaining body. The Tuscan sea threw it on the Lido of Lucca in the year of health 1495. "
Nicolao Tegrimi

The hunt for fantastic animals began in Lucca a long time ago ... and it's not over yet. Sara Paoletti * from the "Lucca Info & Guide" Association tells us more about it.

Lucca's Guardian Angels

A baroque jewel right in the heart of the city is open to the community again. The Oratory of the Guardian Angels, a concentrate of architectural and pictorial treasures built in the mid-seventeenth century and now restored thanks to the important restoration works sponsored by the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation.

A small treasure chest that welcomes visitors for free, ready to host music and cultural events of different kinds.

The singing of trees

Trees and music. Summer events at the Botanical Garden of Lucca.

On a May night trees are said to sing, in all the forests of the world, for those who are sensitive enough to listen. On that night Stradivari cut the woods for his violins and we all know how it turned out!
The Botanical Garden of Lucca dedicates classical and non-classical concerts to the trees of the arboretum on summer evenings. "The singing of trees" is a small festival of concerts of various kinds. A "listening path" made up of small events preceded by a short introduction.
