Two events to help recover the precious library of the former Psychiatric Hospital of Maggiano Lucca, whose volumes have been severely damaged by some water infiltration from the roof of the structure.

The library is the only medical library in the province that is rich in works and collections of specialist and general medicine journals. The library of the former Psychiatric Hospital of Maggiano Lucca is composed of about 4000 books, as well as 261 journals (172 Italian and 89 foreign). The oldest volumes are from 1735 and 1791 to which are added a series of nineteenth-century works that in part are not available in other libraries.

The first Tuesday, June 4 at the former Maggiano psychiatric hospital.

at 18:00 - guided educational tour on the history of Maggiano's psychiatric assistance, its historical sites and the museum, to follow
at 19:15 - concert on healing music and medicine-songs with Giulio d'Agnello, Onda Acustica and Giorgio Dorem Grazzini. The themes of the concert are linked to the musical culture oriented towards care, both in the representations of the Salento ritual of taranta, and as compositions belonging to the songs-medicine and shamanism of South America. The event is introduced by an anthropological, historical-religious and scientific multimedia conversation.
