Mathildis, the Medieval festival of Altopascio near Lucca is a totally renewed medieval festival which, with musicians, flag games and medieval markets, acrobatic shows, jesters, fireworks, camps, duels, archery and crossbow shooting, itinerant performances and aperitifs and dinners in the clubs of the center, will live and relive the historic squares and the whole town center.

The event is part of the general program of the Luglio altopascese 2019. The event is promoted and organized by Antitesi Teatro Circo in collaboration with the municipal administration; she wants to pay homage to Matilde di Canossa, also known as Matilda of Tuscany: she too supported the creation of the Spedale di Altopascio, a structure of particular importance in medieval history for the assistance of pilgrims on the Via Francigena.

The evening's program takes place in the squares of the historic center of Altopascio: musicians, flag games, performances by acrobats, jesters and fireworks, camps, duels, archery and crossbows to recall together the ancient splendours of the village.
