Gardens and courtyards

Get ready to visit Lucca and see a city you have never seen before this way, explore the green spots of the gardens that can usually be seen only from the top of the towers, hidden by high walls in the historic center of Lucca.

On Sunday 23 May from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm the gardens and courtyards are open again for the 2021 edition of the Giardini e Cortili aperti event.

The future of museums: renewal and innovation is the 2021 theme of International Museum Day on May 18.

Lucca's museums will be open on this day, ready to resume activities and fantastic stories.

Throughout Italy and the world Dante's genius is remembered this year with particular love and attention as it is the seven hundredth anniversary of the Supreme Poet's death.

Dante travelled and lived in different places like Florence, Verona and Ravenna, where he stayed until his death. But he also lived in Rome, Arezzo, Pisa, Bologna, Forlì ... and probably even in Lucca, mentioned several times in the Divine Comedy not only with words of appreciation, but he certainly knew the Serchio river, the city wall, and a series of local characters met during his journey.
